ONCE-DAILY OXBRYTA COMES IN DIFFERENT DOSAGE FORMS

  • Oxbryta 300 mg Tablets for Oral Suspension for patients ages 4 years and older, based on patient’s weight and ability to swallow tablets, which should first be mixed in a room temperature clear drink such as drinking water, clear soda, apple juice, clear electrolyte drinks, clear flavored drinks, or clear sports drink before taking. Do not swallow whole, cut, crush, or chew the tablets for oral suspension.

  • Oxbryta 300 mg Tablets for patients ages 4 to less than 12 years, based on weight and ability to swallow tablets, which are swallowed whole. Do not cut, crush, or chew the tablets.

  • Oxbryta 500 mg Tablets for patients ages 12 and up, as well as patients ages 4 to less than 12 years who weigh 88 lbs (40 kg) or more, which are swallowed whole. Do not cut, crush, or chew the tablets.

Remember, do not change your dose or stop taking Oxbryta unless your healthcare provider tells you to. Please see Patient Information and Instructions for Use for complete information on Dosage and Administration.

STEPS FOR PREPARING AND TAKING OR GIVING OXBRYTA 300 MG TABLETS FOR ORAL SUSPENSION

POUR CLEAR DRINK

Be sure your hands are clean and dry, then pour the correct amount of room temperature clear drink in the cup.

  • The table below shows the amount of clear drink needed for the prescribed dose

  • You may add more clear drink if needed to mix the tablets

  • Your healthcare provider will tell you how many Oxbryta 300 mg Tablets for Oral Suspension you will need for your or your child’s dose

ADD PRESCRIBED NUMBER OF TABLETS

  • Add the prescribed number of Oxbryta 300 mg Tablets for Oral Suspension to the cup

  • Do not swallow whole, cut, crush, or chew the tablets for oral suspension

SWIRL & WAIT

Swirl the cup until the tablet(s) breaks apart in the drink. Be careful not to spill. The tablet(s) will not completely dissolve. You will still see small tablet clumps in the mixture.

  • If you spill any medicine, clean up the spill. Throw away the rest of the prepared medicine and make a new dose. Wait for 1 to 5 minutes before taking or giving the dose

SWIRL & DRINK

Swirl the cup again. Be careful not to spill the mixture. Drink all the prepared medicine right away.

  • If giving to a child, make sure that the child is upright. Give all the prepared medicine to the child right away

ADD MORE CLEAR DRINK & REPEAT

Add 1 or 2 more teaspoons of room temperature clear drink to the cup. This is to mix the leftover medicine and to make sure the full dose is taken. Swirl the cup until all the leftover medicine is mixed, and drink it right away. Repeat this step until all the medicine is taken.

  • After taking all the medicine, you or your child may drink more water or any type of drink

  • Be sure to wash the spoon and cup with warm water and soap

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT TAKING OXBRYTA

Keep in mind the tips below when taking Oxbryta 300 mg Tablets, Oxbryta 500 mg Tablets, or Oxbryta 300 mg Tablets for Oral Suspension.

  • Take Oxbryta exactly as your healthcare provider tells you
  • Do not change your dose or stop taking Oxbryta unless your healthcare provider tells you to. Your healthcare provider may change your dose if needed
  • Take your prescribed dose of Oxbryta 1 time each day
  • Take Oxbryta with or without food
  • Do not take St. John’s wort during treatment with Oxbryta
  • Check to make sure you receive the correct dosage form of Oxbryta each time your prescription is filled to avoid taking the wrong medicine. Contact your pharmacist or healthcare provider if you did not receive the correct medication
  • Your healthcare provider may also prescribe a medicine called hydroxyurea during treatment with Oxbryta
  • If you or your child miss a dose or do not take the entire dose of Oxbryta, skip that dose and return to your normal dosing schedule the next day
  • Do not take St. John’s wort during treatment with Oxbryta

HOW TO STORE OXBRYTA

  • Store Oxbryta at 68°F to 86°F (20°C to 30°C)

  • Oxbryta comes in a child-resistant package

  • The Oxbryta 300 mg Tablets bottle and Oxbryta 500 mg Tablets bottle each contain a desiccant to help keep your medicine dry (protect it from moisture) and a polyester coil. Do not eat the desiccant or polyester coil

  • The Oxbryta 300 mg Tablets for Oral Suspension bottle contains a polyester coil. Do not eat the desiccant or polyester coil
