WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT OXBRYTA DOSAGE OPTIONS

  • Oxbryta 300 mg Tablets for Oral Suspension for patients ages 4 years and older based on patient’s weight and ability to swallow tablets, which should first be mixed in a room temperature clear drink such as drinking water or clear soda before taking. Do not swallow whole, cut, crush, or chew the tablets for oral suspension.

  • Oxbryta 500 mg Tablets for ages 12 and up, as well as patients ages 4 to less than 12 who weigh 88 lbs (40 kg) or more*, which are swallowed whole. Do not cut, crush, or chew the tablets.

For pediatric patients 4 years and older, based on patient’s ability to swallow tablets and patient weight.

STEPS FOR TAKING OXBRYTA 300 MG TABLETS FOR ORAL SUSPENSION

POUR CLEAR DRINK

Visually inspect the pills to ensure it is the correct medication.

Be sure your hands are clean and dry, then pour room temperature clear drink in the cup. Use the table below as a guide for the minimum amount of liquid needed for the prescribed dose. You may add more clear drink if needed to mix the tablets.

ADD TABLET(S)

Add the prescribed number of Oxbryta 300 mg Tablet(s) for Oral Suspension to the cup.

  • Do not swallow whole, cut, crush, or chew the tablets for oral suspension

SWIRL & WAIT

Swirl the cup until the tablet(s) break down in the drink. Take care not to spill. The tablet(s) will not completely dissolve. You will still see small tablet clumps in the mixture.

  • If you spill any medicine, clean up the spill. Throw away the rest of the prepared medicine and start again

Wait for 1 to 5 minutes before taking or giving the dose.

SWIRL & DRINK

Swirl the cup again. Take care not to spill. Drink immediately.

  • If giving to a child, make sure that the child is upright. Give all the prepared medicine to the child immediately

ADD MORE LIQUID & REPEAT

Add 1 or 2 more teaspoons of clear drink to the cup. This is to mix the leftover medicine and to make sure the full dose is taken. Swirl the cup until all the leftover medicine is mixed, and drink immediately. Repeat this step until all the medicine is taken.

  • After taking all the medicine, you may drink any type of drink

  • Be sure to wash the spoon and cup with warm water and soap

STEPS FOR TAKING OXBRYTA 500 MG TABLETS

Visually inspect the pills to ensure it is the correct medication. The Oxbryta 500 mg Tablets are film-coated, light yellow, oval shaped and marked with “GBT 500” on one side.

Swallow tablets whole once a day or exactly as your healthcare provider tells you.

  • Do not cut, crush, or chew the tablets

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT TAKING OXBRYTA

Keep in mind the tips below when taking either Oxbryta 500 mg Tablets or Oxbryta 300 mg Tablets for Oral Suspension.

  • Take Oxbryta exactly as your healthcare provider tells you
  • Do not change your dose or stop taking Oxbryta unless your healthcare provider tells you to
  • Take the full prescribed dose of Oxbryta 1 time each day
  • Your healthcare provider may change your dose if needed
  • Your healthcare provider may also prescribe a medicine called hydroxyurea during treatment with Oxbryta
  • Take Oxbryta with or without food
  • If you miss a dose of Oxbryta or do not take the entire dose of Oxbryta, skip that dose and return to your normal dosing schedule the next day
  • Do not take St. John’s wort during treatment with Oxbryta

HOW TO STORE OXBRYTA

  • Store Oxbryta at 68°F to 86°F (20°C to 30°C)

  • Oxbryta comes in a child-resistant package

  • The Oxbryta 500 mg Tablet bottle contains a desiccant to help keep your medicine dry (protect it from moisture) and polyester coil. Do not eat

  • The Oxbryta 300 mg Tablets for Oral Suspension bottle contains a polyester coil. Do not eat
